Volunteer Opportunity for Charter Commission  (11/14/2008)
On November 4, 2008, Portland Voters approved establishing a Charter Commission. The first step in that process is for the City Council to appoint three (3) members. If you are interested in serving on the Charter Commission, please send a letter of interest along with your resume to Linda C. Portland Announces Hour Change for the Public for City Clerk and Treasury   (9/10/2008)
Beginning September 15, the City of Portland’s City Clerk’s Office, and Treasury Division will change their hours for the public to Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM. The Treasury Division will continue to offer extended hours on Thursday, 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM. More

Save the City’s Records  (8/16/2007)
If someone wants a copy of a birth certificate, he/she goes to the Municipal Clerk’s office. The same goes for obtaining a marriage license. We do not just have the records of Portland residents; if the event occurred in the City of Portland, we have a copy. More

The City Clerk’s office is located in room 203, City hall and is responsible for conducting all elections, voter registration, maintaining all City records including Council proceedings and serves as custodian of city ordinances, and other public documents. The office issues various state and local licenses and permits which include business licenses, hunting, fishing, dog and marriage licenses, domestic partnership registrations, birth and death certificates and passports.
